The instructions on this page are to be used when setting up an Outlook 2010 email account to retrieve email from Reveille’s servers.<\/p>\n

To start adding an account under Outlook 2010:<\/p>\n

  1. Select the \"File\" tab in the top menu<\/li>\n
  2. Select the \"Info\" sub-tab from the left side menu if not selected already<\/li>\n
  3. Click the \"Add Account\" button<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    We're going to bypass the wizard setup (which is only for very simple setups) and choose to manually configure our new email account:<\/p>\n

    1. Select the radio button \"Manually configure server settings or additional server types\"<\/li>\n
    2. Press \"Next >\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/dd>

      Next we select what kind of account we're setting up:<\/p>\n

        This is the page where you have to pay attention, and be particularly careful with your spelling. \u00a0Use the graphic at left as your guide:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • Enter \"Your Name\"<\/li>\n
        • Enter \"E-mail Address\"<\/li>\n
        • Make sure \"POP3\" is selected in the \"Account Type\" dropdown menu<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

        • For \"Incoming mail server\" substitute \"yourdomain\" with your actual domain:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
              \n
            • If your domain is acme.com then you'll enter \"pop3.acme.com\"<\/li>\n
            • If your domain is foofoomagoo.net then you'll enter \"pop3.foofoomagoo.net\"<\/li>\n
            • if your domain is forhesajollygoodfellow.org then you'll enter \"pop3.forhesajollygoodfellow.org\"<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ol>\n

              • For \"Outgoing mail server (SMTP)\" we're going to follow the same rules for the incoming server, except we're going to be prefixing our domain name with \"smtp\":<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  • If your domain is acme.com then you'll enter \"smtp.acme.com\"<\/li>\n
                  • If your domain is foofoomagoo.net then you'll enter \"smtp.foofoomagoo.net\"<\/li>\n
                  • If your domain is forhesajollygoodfellow.org then you'll enter \"smtp.forhesajollygoodfellow.org\"<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ol>\n
                      \n
                    • For \"User Name\" enter your full email address<\/em><\/strong>, not just the part before the at sign (@).<\/li>\n
                    • Enter your \"Password\". \u00a0Pay attention to upper and lower case - it makes a difference.<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0Type slowly and deliberately for this field since it is obscured by asterisks. \u00a0This is the field on which most people make a mistake.<\/li>\n
                    • Make sure \"Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is NOT<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0checked<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
                    • Make sure \"New Outlook Data File is Selected<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
                    • Click the \"More Settings...\" button - we are NOT going to be pressing \"Next\"<\/em><\/strong> quite yet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/dd>

                      1. Select the \"Outgoing Server\" tab.<\/li>\n
                      2. \"My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication\" is Checked<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
                      3. \"Use same settings as my incoming mail server\" is Selected<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
                      4. Then select the \"Advanced<\/em><\/strong>\" tab - we are NOT going to press OK<\/em><\/strong> quite yet.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/dd>

                        The only field on this page that needs changing is the \"Outgoing server (SMTP):\".<\/p>\n

                          \n
                        1. Change it from the default of 25 to a value of 26<\/li>\n
                        2. Press the \"Ok\" button to take you back to the \"Add New Account\" dialog with all of your email settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/dd>

                          Now that we're done with the \"More Settings...\" dialog, we're back at the \"Add New Account\" dialog.<\/p>\n

                            After pressing \"Next >\" on the \"Add New Account\" dialog, you should be put into the \"Test Account Settings\" dialog box:<\/p>\n

                            1. Make sure you have 2 green check marks at the left.<\/li>\n
                            2. Make sure the \"Status\" is \"Completed\" for both.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

                            If your dialog does look like the one above:<\/p>\n

                            1. Press the \"Close\" button. - this will take you to the \"Add Account\" dialog.<\/li>\n
                            2. Press the \"Finish\" button. - You're done and your account is setup.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
